Region 5: The Swamp

Overview

Stilt Houses Over Quiet Water

The Swamp is the game's gathering retreat: the Stilt Houses stand over slow water, and the pace drops accordingly. Fishing and gathering are the industries here, and the Fish Magnet achievement — 50 catches — is the local trophy. The quiet is occasionally a lie: Spitter Zombies patrol the walkways and open up at range. Respect the horizon line and the swamp pays out.

Why the Swamp Is Worth the Walk

Every catch and gather feeds chains the town and village consume — fish for the kitchen, swamp flora and fauna for the production lines. The fishing quests on the ledger (Fish for the Fisher, Plenty of Fish in the Sea among them) are natural company for the area's routine. Fast travel closes the loop: activate the pins with Faith once, and the swamp becomes a profitable commute instead of an expedition. By mid-game, most keepers route a worker detour through here on principle.

How to Unlock

Reached as the story pushes exploration past the Forest — the Stilt Houses and the Swamp get their own Faith-activated fast-travel pins once you have walked in.

Recommended Preparation

Pack for a Slow Campaign

Bring a squad you trust — a spitter's ranged opening means solo keepers eat projectiles on the walkways before they can swing. Bring patience along with the squad: fishing tallies take sessions, not minutes, and Fish Magnet's 50 is a marathon of casts. And set your fast-travel pins the moment you arrive; the walk back with a full pack is the swamp's real boss.

  • Swamp gathers — flora and fauna harvested from the shallows
  • Faith — activates the Stilt Houses and Swamp fast-travel pins

Quests

The Fishing Ledger

The quest list carries dedicated fishing chains — Fish for the Fisher, Plenty of Fish in the Sea — and the swamp's waterways are where a keeper's rod does its work. Each cast also inches the Fish Magnet tally toward its 50. Treat the quests as the tour and the tally as the job.
